چکیده

Quantum repeaters are used to overcome the exponential photon loss scaling that quantum states acquire as they transmitted over long distances. While for discrete-variable encodings of information have existed some time, approaches continuous-variable encoding only recently been proposed. In this work, we present a method using repeater protocol distribute and utilize it compare rates entanglement distribution between first-generation continuous- repeaters. Such comparison allows us begin benchmark two quite different approaches.

Repeaters for Continuous Variable Quantum Communication

Optical telecommunication is at the heart of today’s internet and is currently enabled by the transmission of intense optical signals between remote locations. As we look to the future of telecommunication, quantum mechanics promise new ways to be able to transmit and process that information. Demonstrations of quantum key distribution and quantum teleportation using multi-photon states have be...

Continuous-Variable Triple-Photon States Quantum Entanglement.

We investigate the quantum entanglement of the three modes associated with the three-photon states obtained by triple-photon generation in a phase-matched third-order nonlinear optical interaction. Although the second-order processes have been extensively dealt with, there is no direct analogy between the second and third-order mechanisms. We show, for example, the absence of quantum entangleme...

Continuous-Variable Entanglement Swapping

We present a very brief overview of entanglement swapping as it relates to continuous-variable quantum information. The technical background required is discussed and the natural link to quantum teleportation is established before discussing the nature of Gaussian entanglement swapping. The limitations of Gaussian swapping are introduced, along with the general applications of swapping in the c...

Atomic filtering for hybrid continuous-variable/discrete-variable quantum optics.

We demonstrate atomic filtering of frequency-degenerate photon pairs from a sub-threshold optical parametric oscillator (OPO). The filter, a modified Faraday anomalous dispersion optical filter (FADOF), achieves 70% peak transmission simultaneous with 57 dB out-of-band rejection and a 445 MHz transmission bandwidth. When applied to the OPO output, only the degenerate mode, containing one-mode s...

The generation of Continuous-Variable Entanglement Frequency Comb

Continuous-variable (CV) entanglement frequency comb can be produced by enhanced Raman scattering in an above-threshold optical oscillator cavity in which a hexagonally-poled LiTaO3 crystal resides as a Raman gain medium. The Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman signals are enhanced by a coupled quasi-phase-matching optical parametric process and the entanglement natures among these Raman signals and p...
